Malaysian Jungle Nymph, Heteropteryx dilatata

Like most stick insects, this is a nocturnal species, that can be found more actively feeding on plant foliage under cover of darkness. The males and females are highly sexually dimorphic – meaning they have a very different appearance. Female jungle nymphs are the heaviest stick insect in the world, weighing about 50 grams. These stick insects are native to Malaysia.
