Two-spotted Assassin Bug, Platymeris biguttatus

Keep your distance; these small bugs pack a venomous bite! These African Two-Spotted Assassin Bugs are native to the humid tropical forests of west Africa but similar Assassin Bugs can be found worldwide, including here in Canada. These are ‘true bugs’ in the order Hemiptera and they use their sharp piercing mouthparts, called a rostrum, to suck juices from their insect prey.
