Red Ginger/Pink Cone, Alpinia purpurata
Robust, upright perennial with stalked, hairless, mid-green leaves; in summer erect racemes 3 ft. long appear with small white flowers within coloured bracts; may grow to 6 ft.
Water moderately; reduce watering in winter; feed with a balanced fertilizer monthly; prefers bright, filtered light
Treat plantlets produced in the inflorescences produced as offsets; root division
‘Jungle King’ has red bracts; ‘Jungle Queen’ has pink bracts
