Our Conservatory offers a beautiful and unique setting for personal, professional photography and filming. In consideration of the accessibility of our guests, certain photography guidelines apply.

We always encourage our general admission visitors to take photos for memories and souvenirs! Tripods, flashes, light shields and other props are not permitted in the facility during our open business hours.

Permits are required for all portraiture, special occasion, semi-professional/professional or commercial photography sessions including but not limited to: family, maternity, or engagement shoots; blog/influencer or fashion shoots, and wedding photos. Permits are not valid for use during our open hours and must be used in the morning (before 10am) or evening (after 5pm) when the Conservatory is closed to the public. Bookings may be made up to 4 weeks in advance of your desired date.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory reserves the right to determine if your shoot is professional/commercial in nature and may ask individuals to suspend their activities if they do not have a permit.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Permit Fee: $200.00 plus HST per hour. Permits include use of the facility for one hour, plus admission for your family (up to 6 people) and your photographer. Please note that prices are subject to increase if booking on statutory holidays.

AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP BOOKINGS:

A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required on booking. Minimum 8 people required.

One-hour Photography Session Fee (9-10am): $20.00 plus HST per person.

Two-hour Photography Session Fee (8-10am): $25.00 plus HST per person.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Permit Fee: $300.00 plus HST per hour. Photography permits for wedding photography are valid for a party of up to 20 people. CLICK HERE for more information.

Policies

Deposits and Payment

Deposits are required to secure a booking date and time. Until a deposit is received, the date is still open for booking by other parties. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to another date if cancellation is made at least 7 days in advance.

The balance is due on the day of your visit. Payment can be made by cash, corporate cheque, Debit, Visa, or Mastercard.

Amateur Photography Groups must have a minimum booking of 8 paid admissions. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is to be paid upon booking.

Professional Photography must pay a 50% deposit at time of booking.

Time Limits

Please arrive as close to your scheduled arrival time as possible. Your scheduled time will be strictly enforced. Rental times are inclusive of setup and tear down. Please note that it takes 15-20 minutes for cameras to acclimatize to the humidity of the Conservatory.

Amateur photography groups are welcome to stay past 10:00am when we are open to the public, but tripods and other equipment must be put away at that time.

Cancellation Policy

We require at least 7 days notice of cancellation. If 7 days are not given, 100% of the booking will be invoiced to you accordingly.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is not responsible for loss, damage, theft, or disappearance of equipment, furnishings or any articles whatsoever owned, being used by, rented or borrowed by the rental group for the use on Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory property or while being stored on the later property.
