BOOK AN ON-SITE CLASS VISIT TO THE CONSERVATORY
Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is where learning takes flight! Students’ learning will come to life in a lush, tropical garden – marvel at thousands of free-flying butterflies as you experience the tropics under floral canopies and a cascading waterfall. Your visit to Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory will focus on inquiry and exploration. It is sure to inspire curiosity and wonder about butterflies and insects, and their importance in the natural world.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back to Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory for in-person Nature Interpreter led programming this 2022/2023 school year.Â
- 90 minute programs will be offered Tuesday – Thursday
- Two time-slots per day:
- 10:00 am to 11:30 am – SOLD OUT
- 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm – SOLD OUT

Visit Overview
Classroom & Live Insect Encounter
A curriculum-based learning session based on butterflies & insects, including several hands-on discovery stations. This portion of the program also includes a live insect encounter where the group will meet a couple of our tropical critters up close!
The Butterfly Conservatory
Students will enjoy a Nature Interpreter-led journey through the Conservatory in small groups alongside adult supervisors, surrounded by free-flying tropical butterflies, birds, fish, and turtles. Students will also stop by to see the Emergence Window, where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the butterfly life-cycle. Here, live butterflies emerge from their chrysalides, dry their wings, and take their first flight into the Conservatory.
The Insect Galleries
Students will learn more about insects through observation, where they will have the chance to see our diverse live animal collection and learn more about tropical critters from around the world.

Virtual Presentation Add-On
Bolster the educational aspects of this School Group visit by adding a Virtual Presentation to your booking. Let us bring the learning to your class virtually – all presentations include a Live Insect Encounter and a Live Q&A Session with a Nature Interpreter.
LIVE INSECT ENCOUNTER
Experience one of our live tropical bugs – up close and virtual with a LIVE Insect Encounter! Learn more about stick insects, like how and what they eat, and watch them walk around and engage with our Nature Interpreter. Ask questions and join the discussion surrounding these fascinating creatures.
LIVE Q&A SESSION
We want to hear from you! Students will have the opportunity to connect with our Nature Interpreter and ask questions or share stories and insights in a Live format. Let’s chat about gardening for pollinators, fascinating butterfly and moth behaviour and other fun insect facts that may surprise or intrigue you.

RECORDING & BROADCASTING POLICY
Recording of the Virtual Program(s) is strictly prohibited.
Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory retains all intellectual property rights. Participants are not permitted to save, record, reproduce, broadcast, transmit, share or reproduce in any way the intellectual property, material, trademarks, rights of publicity or other proprietary rights without obtaining the prior written consent of Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory.
By completing the booking form associated with the virtual program, participating groups agree to this policy to not record or broadcast any portion of the virtual program(s) in any electronic form. Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory reserves the right to deny access to the Program to any user(s) who is alleged to infringe on this policy.
FACILITATION FOR LIVE SESSION
The style of the Q&A Session will be determined based on your individual group. This will be discussed with the Booking Coordinator at time of booking. A Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory staff member may be requested to facilitate the Q&A for an additional cost of $25.00 plus HST.
The following scenarios are most typical for virtual programs with live audience participation:Â
- Participants sitting together as a group may choose to raise their hand or shout out their questions during the live session, a facilitator would then direct their questions the presenter
- Individual participants using their own devices may signal that they have a question and the facilitator may unmute participants in order for them to ask their questions directly
- Individual participants using their own devices may type their questions into the chat feature during the presentation, the facilitator would then direct questions to the presenter
PLATFORM & TECHNOLOGY
This virtual program will be conducted through the Zoom platform, unless otherwise arranged with Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory upon booking. Once you have registered for the program, our Booking Coordinator will connect back to confirm the date and time of your virtual visit. Prior to the booking date, you will receive a link and Access Code to join the virtual program beginning at your scheduled date and time.
START AND END TIMES
To ensure your group receives the best possible experience, please join the virtual meeting as close to your scheduled time as possible. There will be a waiting room available 5 minutes in advance for any participants who may login early.
PAYMENT
Payment is due in one lump sum at time of booking in order to secure the date & time of the visit. We accept Visa, MasterCard. Last minute cancellations are permitted – any classes who need to cancel due to COVID-19 will be able to be moved to a new date & time. Please indicate a second “rain-check” date & time on the booking form.Â
Annual passes are not valid for this program.

Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program in the event of inclement weather. We will do our best to contact you as soon as possible once this decision is made. Groups will have the option to reschedule their virtual presentation.
